Today we are talking about the first SmartWatch of the Garmin brand, which aims to excel in the category of smart watches and expand its range of products to the customer, as Garmin has taken much further the concept of "smart watch". The model is called Garmin VivoActive.
This new device has wanted to stand out from the rest of its range disregard the "Android Wear" operating system which carried almost all SmartWatch, why Garmin has created its own OS or platform, "Connect IQ". Through Connect IQ it is possible to add data fields and widgets, or customizations to the clock display.
Garmin allow third parties to develop their platform or OS for improvement and growth of use (creating new apps, for example).
Other than that, it watches out and has many features that make it very interesting:
- GPS (including GLONASS)
- Submersible 50m, includes indoor swimming monitoring (based on Garmin Swim)
- Activity Tracker (with its software based on Garmin Vivofit)
- Options: running, cycling, walking, swimming, golf ...
- It is connected to ANT + devices such as heart rate chest strap (available in the most expensive pack) and cadence.
- Can be set for each sport the number of screens, the number of data fields and data we want them to appear.
It also has more things, typical of a smart watch and similar to those of a heart rate monitor, we could say it's a mixture of both. It is quite easy to use for people who have had experience with heart rate monitors, so that users "newbies" need more time to adjust the clock for its interface and use (more like heart rate monitors).
The Garmin VivoActive is available in two colors, white or black. The base price of the watch will be 249 €, from 299 € if you want it in kit with pulse sensor.
Our opinion:
We think this smart watch is too expensive for what it offers, it seems more a heart rate monitor camouflaged inside a clock, but we also believe that as the first of its range to this brand and has a new OS would be given time for improved. Yet he is very good in terms of its characteristics.
Our rate:
7/10
Thanks for your attention, SEE YOU SOON!
I think most smart watches have similar functions. There is nothing special about this watch.
